New Neighbor Program

"Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers for thereby some have entertained angels unawares."  Hebrews 13:2
New Neighbor Program
Loneliness is one of the most painful challenges refugees experience.
Through the New Neighbor Program you can offer friendship, practice English and answer questions about life in the United States.
New Neighbor volunteers make a three month commitment to meet once a week for two hours with a newly arrived refugee.  New Neighbor volunteers need a love of people, a desire to help and a sense of humor.  It is not necessary to speak a foreign language or have travel experience.
Exodus provides everything you'll need to make this a great experience:

  • Training on how to help refugees and build meaningful cross-cultural friendships
  • Introduction to a refugee who wants your help
  • Ongoing support

You will learn about another country and see the United States in a fresh new way.   Most importantly, you will make a difference in the life of a refugee.  Contact us for more information or to volunteer for the New Neighbor program.
"It is very, very important for every refugee to have a volunteer, a New Neighbor, a friend."  refugee from Burundi
"This new friendships has blessed me more than I ever expected."  New Neighbor volunteer
